Welcome to the Katie Blue website!

Katie Blue, " The Plastic Queen" is an artist and Junk Sculptor, maverick recycler and sock monkey lover! Well known in Ireland for her quirky, colourful and often humourous Junk Sculptures, assemblages and more recently for her lush prints and paintings she is rapidly carving a name for herself as one of Ireland's most innovative artists.
Katie Blue has been producing innovative artwork for the commercial Arts/ Crafts market since 1992. She established her reputation with a combination of bold large scale wall-hangings and rich, intricate textile work. She then created intricate, handpainted, assemblage cupboards and chairs, and interactive pieces that could be moved and animated. Then her work progressed with a vast array of colourful plastics, using household objects, toys and other emphemera into the quirky characters and animals for which she is best known. Since 2008 she has also been producing a range of limited edition prints that reflect her work and interests: toys, food, futuristic fantasy cityscape sculptures.
As well as private commissions locally and abroad, Katie Blue has also sold and exhibited work in the UK, Europe, Japan and the USA. Her work is also in the collections of the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum and the Environmental Heritage Service, Northern Ireland, the Museo de Collage, Cuernavaca, Mexico and the Learning Connexion, Wellington, New Zealand and in homes all over the world.
